Episode #30: Absence for Mental Illness

According to the Office for National Statistics, there is a record 2.5 million people who are unable to work due to long-term sickness.

Most of those absences are due to poor mental health, not a physical illness.

Not having the right support from employers leads to increased absenteeism, presenteeism, and lower productivity.

If a person stays off work for longer than 6 months, they are less likely to ever return to work.

We need to do better to prevent this from happening and provide support before it’s too late.
